Job Description
Minnesota State College Southeast seeks a Biology Instructor in our program, dedicated to excellence in teaching, who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Minnesota State College Southeast are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. The instructor may earn unlimited status upon completion of six successful probationary semesters.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Deliver classroom, web-enhanced and/or online course instruction.
- Deliver courses using Open Educational Resources
- Participate in department and college curriculum development.
- Conduct classroom research and other assessment/evaluation activities.
- Mentor and advise students.
- Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.
- Participate in department accreditation and review.
- Engage in scholarly and other professional development activities.
- Advocate on behalf of students, program and college
- Collaboration in professional development activities.
Salary Range:
$43,067 - $71,893
Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience. Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs. Please note, Initial Step Placement is established by the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) contract which sets limitations to the initial salary of a new faculty member. This may differ from the maximum salary range in this posting.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of BIOLOGY
Education Requirement
Master's degree with a major in biology or Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in biology.
Preferred Qualification
Master's degree with a major in biology or Master's degree in any discipline field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Chemistry
Online teaching experience
Ability to teach microbiology
Community college teaching experience or K-12 teaching excellence
Collaborative attitude
Student-centered approach, ability to adapt to student needs and changes in student lives
Work Shift
Course assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend hours consisting of lecture, lab
