Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Biology department on the Oconee campus. We are seeking candidates who are able to follow protocols and adhere to safety rules, reliable (maintains work schedule with few to no missed shifts), and motivated to work (moves to the next task without being asked or reminded).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with solution preparation under direct staff supervision;
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of lab experiment materials and equipment;
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment;
  • Assist with chemical and equipment inventory;
  • Wash lab dishes;
  • Organize and file safety data sheets for chemicals in inventory;
  • Flush emergency eye washes and emergency showers in labs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must be able to use step stools/ladders repetitively, and reach bottom shelf of cabinets repetitively.
  • Must be able to stand for various periods of time, up to one hour.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
