Job Summary

Are you passionate about plants, biodiversity, or museum collections? The Botany Section of the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History is accepting applications for a Botany Digitization Researcher! This is an exciting opportunity for students to work on specimen digitization projects supporting future science and conservation work. These projects, funded by the National Science Foundation's Advancing Digitization of Biodiversity Collections (ADBC) program, aim to create local and global, online consortia of specimen data.

Who We Are

The CU Herbarium is home to over 550,000 specimens of vascular plants, mosses, and lichens, including the most comprehensive collection of Colorado plants in the world. As part of our team, you’ll contribute to valuable projects that include high-resolution imaging, georeferencing, and data transcription, with a focus on lichens, bryophytes from around the world, and vascular plants collected in Asia.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Practical Experience: Gain experience working with digitization equipment and learn valuable skills related to biodiversity informatics.
  • Learning Opportunity: Work alongside knowledgeable professionals in botany, lichenology, museum collections and biodiversity informatics, providing a foundation for future opportunities.

What You Should Know

Flexible Hours: This is a temporary, part-time position. The work schedule will be 10 hours a week through the summer semester ~120 hours total.

What We Can Offer

The pay for this temporary, part-time position is $18.50/hour.

Benefits

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.
