Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the College of Arts & Letters department on the Gainesville campus. The Box Office Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance's ticketing office by serving as a primary point of contact for patrons. This role focuses on delivering high-quality customer service while assisting with ticket sales, exchanges, and general inquiries related to performances. The position also contributes to front-of-house operations by helping create a welcoming and organized environment for all guests. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
Responsibilities
- Processes ticket sales, exchanges, and donations using the ticketing system while handling cash and electronic transactions accurately.
- Assists patrons in person and over the phone by providing information about performance schedules, seating options, pricing, and policies.
- Greets and directs guests, helps manage lobby flow before and during events, and ensures a positive patron experience.
- Maintains organized records and supplies, and assists with general office tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparation for performances.
- Supports the Audience Services Manager and front-of-house operations and collaborates with staff to ensure smooth event execution.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
- Ability to learn ticketing and point-of-sale systems with attention to detail and accuracy in transactions.
- Dependable, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while remaining professional under pressure.
- Works well independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
