Job Description

Classification Title: Business Intelligence Analyst- College of Nursing

Classification Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Business Intelligence Analyst plays a vital role in supporting data-driven decision-making at the College of Nursing by collecting, analyzing, and presenting critical business intelligence. Reporting to the Management Analyst, this position ensures integrity, usability, and strategic application of data across multiple systems.

The Analyst will develop dashboards, conduct complex data analyses, identify trends, and contribute insights that support the College's strategic priorities. The role requires technical expertise in data management and reporting tools, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Collection, Management & Integrity

  • Collects business intelligence data from a variety of sources, including internal databases, public datasets, surveys, and vendor systems.
  • Gathers and analyzes market data, competitor information, and industry trends with implications for the college's strategic direction.
  • Maintains and updates databases, dashboards, and data visualization tools to ensure accurate, timely, and accessible information.
  • Conducts audits and quality checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies and standards.
  • Recommends and implements best practices for data governance, integrity, and management.

Data Analysis & Insight Generation

  • Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses using statistical and business process tools to support strategic initiatives.
  • Identifies trends, patterns, and anomalies in data that can inform decisions, drive process improvements, or flag risks.
  • Develops actionable insights to support the college's academic, operational, strategic, and financial goals.
  • Synthesizes findings into clear, concise summaries and visualizations for executive reporting.

Dashboard and Reporting Development

  • Designs and manages dashboards, scorecards, and automated reporting systems for use by leadership, staff, and faculty.
  • Creates custom reports for ongoing projects and ad-hoc inquiries from leadership, faculty, staff, or academic programs.
  • Translates complex data outputs into accessible reports and presentations tailored for different audiences.
  • Supports performance monitoring aligned with strategic plan goals and key performance indicators (KPIs)

User Support and Training

  • Provides training and guidance to users on accessing, interpreting, and leveraging business intelligence tools.
  • Develops user documentation, data dictionaries, and metadata support resources.
  • Acts as a liaison between technical teams and business units to ensure solutions meet end-user needs.

Expected Salary: $65,000-$75,000 commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: 3-5 years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related role. Proficiency in data analysis tools and platforms (SQL, Power BI, etc.). Experience in higher education, healthcare, or public sector environments. Familiarity with data governance frameworks and strategic performance measurement. Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python or R) for data processing and statistical modeling. Experience translating technical data into meaningful insights for diverse audiences. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
