This role supports the organization’s mission by ensuring the Yum Shoppe and vending operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with a customer-first focus. By managing inventory levels, coordinating with multiple vendors for best pricing, and keeping products well-stocked, merchandised, and appealing, the position helps maximize sales while maintaining variety and value. The role also contributes through accurate shipping and receiving, timely processing of invoices and documents, collaboration with marketing on promotions and special events, and delivery of front-line customer service. Together, these responsibilities ensure a positive customer experience, strong vendor partnerships, and reliable operations that support the overall success of the Bookstore and campus community.

Telework:
A hybrid telework schedule may be available.
Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory levels for the Yum Shoppe and vending machines to ensure availability and product variety
- Place orders, restock merchandise, and work with multiple vendors to secure best pricing
- Process invoices, receiving documents, and POS entries accurately and on time
- Receive, inspect, and prepare merchandise for resale and shipment
- Collaborate with marketing on sales, events, and vendor specials
- Maintain cleanliness, merchandising standards, and routine upkeep of the Yum Shoppe
- Track write-offs and monitor departmental spending to stay within budget
- Provide front-line customer service in person, online, and by phone
- Train and support student employees as needed
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
4 years of experience in Retail management and/or receiving.
Salary:
Pay Range 10; $23.08/hr to $30.57/hr based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
