Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Career Service Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing students in career/employment, entrepreneurial success, student leadership development, and workforce readiness, within the Career Services & Innovation Center at Laredo College. This position oversees the coordination of all Center activities, including the Career Services & Entrepreneurship Incubator, Leadership Development Incubator, and Workforce readiness initiatives. The Coordinator ensures that students gain meaningful opportunities through workshops, coaching, events, venture competitions, and applied projects that strengthen essential workplace skills such as but not limited to: resume building, interviewing, and professional communication. In addition, the Coordinator develops and manages digital marketing strategies to promote Center activities, highlight student achievements, and engage the broader community in entrepreneurship, career, and workforce initiatives.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Student Support & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students participating in the Career Services Center and assists with the Entrepreneurship and Leadership Incubator programs
  • Provide individualized coaching and resources to help students strengthen workforce readiness skills
  • Coordinate and participate in outreach efforts to recruit and engage students in incubator and workforce development programs
  • Plan and host informational sessions, workshops, and networking events that connect students with industry professionals and community partners.
  • Oversee student tracking efforts post-program to support alumni engagement, career outcomes, and entrepreneurial success.
  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with campus offices, employers, and community organizations to expand opportunities for students.
  • Be available to coach, or mentor students as needed in entrepreneurship, workforce readiness, leadership, and digital marketing concepts.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, student feedback, and outcome data to improve program design and delivery.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with institutional, federal, state, and local regulations governing higher education and workforce and small business development programs.
  • Maintain accurate student and program records in accordance with institutional policies and data privacy standards.
  • Support compliance with safety, ethical, and reporting standards for incubator activities, workforce development initiatives, and community partnerships.

Administrative & Program Management

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Career Services, Small Business and Leadership Incubators, and venture competition initiatives including but not limited to: scheduling, logistics, student preparation, and event execution.
  • Recruit and organize guest speakers, trainers, and expert panels to deliver high-impact workforce and entrepreneurship learning experiences.
  • Support project-based learning by connecting students with nonprofits, small businesses, and employers to apply workforce and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Develop and implement digital marketing campaigns (social media, website, newsletters, and print collateral) to promote Center activities, incubator sessions, and student success stories and track performance of marketing efforts
  • Create and manage content strategies highlighting workshops, incubator events, workforce initiatives, and community partnerships.
  • Manage financial tracking, budgeting, and resource allocation for incubators and workforce development initiatives.
  • Assist the Director with creating and updating program handbooks, operational guides, and compliance reports.
  • Be available to travel for professional development and community partnership building.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing & Communications, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience in program coordination.

Preferred:

  • A masters degree in Business Administration, Marketing & Communications, and/or Organizational Leadership.
  • Experience with workforce, staffing, or employment services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of online technology such as Learning management systems, Zoom, MS Office, Canva, Adobe.
  • Time and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Introductory Review Period

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
