Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The School of Mental Health Counseling at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor to serve as Chair beginning August 1, 2026. Position purpose: The Chair of the School of Mental Health Counseling is responsible for all aspects of the program, including but not limited to accreditation, workload, course offerings, student progression, faculty recruitment and development, and managing personnel.
Job functions:
- The chair is responsible for the governance and office manage for the School. This includes strategic planning, aligning with University mission/vision, faculty and staff recruitment, development, workload assignment, and evaluation. Establishing community partnerships for advancing strategic priorities including but not limited external funding. Develop and implement a series strategic fund raising initiatives to support the School and College.
- Curriculum and Program development. The chair is responsible for leading the School in curriculum and program development, assessment and revision as appropriate.
- The Chair is responsible for recruitment, progression, retention and graduation for the students in the program. Collaborate with the AD for Student Success and Formation, Admissions, Registrar and other entities on campus.
- The Chair is responsible for maintaining full accreditation of the programs. This include communication with the accrediting body, timely submission of all required accreditation documents, responding to any requests from the accreditation body, maintaining all needed records for continued compliance The Chair will work closely with the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Accreditation. Along with this, the Chair is responsible for addressing any Licensing Board issues so that our graduates can be successful in obtaining licensing.
- The Chair is responsible for proposing the annual budget for the School. This individual is responsible for administering the School's budget in a fiscally responsibly way that aligns with the School, College, and University strategic priorities. Is also responsible for managing any facilities and equipment associated with the School.
- The Chair is responsible for creating clear lines of communication between the Dean's office and the Program as well as with in the program. This includes verbal, electronic, social media, newsletter, reports, etc.
- The Chair will teach in the program based on professional expertise and needs of the program.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University. Interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Required Education Doctoral degree in an area that meets the CACREP standards. Licensed in the State of TN or eligible for licensure
Required Experience 7-9 year of teaching experience in a Mental Health Counseling Academic Program. Experience with CACREP Accreditation
