Child Life Specialist (Resource)
+ Working 30 hours per week, three, 10.5 hour days. Every Thursday, Friday and Tuesday and/or Wednesday required. No weekends.
+ Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients
+ Serving as member of multidisciplinary team
+ Providing support to patients and families from birth to young adults
Key Responsibilities:
+ Common interventions include support for procedures, siblings, development, and bereavement
+ Providing coping support for patients with both short and long-term hospitalizations
+ Maintaining resources which include ordering and stocking unit areas
+ Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
+ 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
+ General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced?based knowledge.
+ Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
+ Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
