Position Summary
The Director of Traditional Admissions supervises and manages the daily operations of the Admissions Office and staff. Reporting to the Senior Executive Officer (SEO) and Dean of the School of Adult and Graduate Studies, the Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the admissions staff and works with the SEO to develop long-term goals and policies to ensure that the University's undergraduate admissions goals are met. The Director coordinates student recruitment efforts, application processing and review, the Campus Visit and Events Coordinator and the Summer Camp Coordinator. The Director also works closely with the Financial Aid Office staff regarding awarded scholarships or other financial aid student issues. The Director also works with the SEO and Marketing staff on admissions-related marketing projects. Some travel and extended hours may be required during the heavy recruitment season.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide administrative leadership for the admissions process including overseeing the processing and review of applications and student recruitment efforts, including counselor travel
With the SEO, develop and implement recruitment strategies and yearly goals
Hire, train and coach admissions counselors on how to recruit and communicate effectively with leads and applicants
Review and assess live or recorded calls and customize coaching to each admissions counselor's needs
Serve on the Admissions Committee to review and vote on applicant acceptance
Review and approve certain scholarships, while working closely with the Financial Aid Office
Run reports and queries in Slate to assess student recruitment efforts
As needed, work with the CRM Communications Coordinator to update communication campaigns
As needed, work with the Marketing staff and the SEO on admissions related marketing projects
As needed, represent the Admissions Office on various campus-wide committees and projects
Other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
According to Ohio Christian University employment policy, all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the OCU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Five to seven years of admissions experience
Bachelor's required, Master's preferred; preferred majors include higher education, marketing, digital marketing, business
Familiarity with Slate is strongly preferred
Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback
Able to work collaboratively and be decisive in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment
Excellent writing and public speaking skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to take initiative
Strong analytics, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
Ease with complexity and ambiguity
