Job Description
Through didactic instruction, demonstration and skills sign off in a laboratory setting, and supervision in various clinical rotations, an instructor in the Practical Nursing (PN) program trains Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) over the course of three semesters. This training and education prepares the PN graduates to successfully take the national licensing exam (i.e., NCLEX-PN) and thereby become licensed to provide LPN nursing services in the State of Idaho.
Key Responsibilities
Serves as faculty advisor for a group of PN nursing students
Constructs and teaches didactic, lab, and clinical courses
Provides coverage for the Human Simulation exercises
Continuously evaluates clinical and theory components of the program and collaborates with other faculty in order to provide quality, coordinated clinical experiences
Maintains accurate, timely, and complete student records
Uses adult learning principles and multiple methods of instructional delivery to enhance student learning
Monitors 10 to 12 students per clinical course section in clinical rotations
Provides coverage for the supervision of remote clinical sites located in Critical Access Hospitals
Actively participates in on-going team meetings; participates in ISU committees per program needs
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a major in nursing
Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Idaho or ability to obtain licensure in Idaho
At least four years of full-time, successful employment as a nurse (LPN and/or RN)
Some teaching experience in the field of nursing
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Nursing
Teaching experience on the community college or university level
Additional Information

Salary will be between $60,000 - $63,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
