Clinical Research Assistant II- Study Navigator HBCD
Position Summary/Department Summary
The Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging and Developmental Science Center and associated departments at Boston Children's Hospital are hiring a full-time Clinical Research Assistant II for the HEALthy Brain and Child Development Study (HBCD). The role is divided between study navigator duties, assisting participants with support services related to substance use disorder and mental health, and research assistant responsibilities, executing study tasks. The HBCD Study observes neurodevelopment from pregnancy to 10 years, using neuroimaging and various behavioral and physiological measures to understand the impact of substance exposure and different environments. This is part of the NIH's HEAL initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person needs assessments for high-risk candidates, assist with accessing community resources, and document interactions.
- Develop relationships with community supports to aid participants in completing study requirements.
- Maintain and explore community partnerships, complete applications, and liaison with organizations.
- Manage the collection and distribution of donated items.
- Recruit participants, schedule study visits, and conduct testing (behavioral, MRI, EEG) and biosample handling.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and ensure adherence to data collection and consent protocols.
- Assist in preparing study materials, including summaries, manuals, and documentation for IRB and NIH.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in STEM or Psychology, or a degree in Social Work, is preferred.
Experience
1 to 2 years of work experience is preferred, with preference given to those with study navigator experience. A commitment of 2 years is preferred. The willingness to travel throughout the Greater Boston Area. Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse groups, including women, infants, and young children. Flexibility to work beyond regular hours, including weekends, as needed. Proficiency or willingness to learn database software such as REDCap and LORIS. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
