Clinical Research Coordinator - Nephrology

Position Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator will support research activities within the Division of Nephrology at CUIMC. This role involves coordinating patient recruitment for genetic and non-genetic studies, assessing eligibility, obtaining informed consent, and administering standardized questionnaires. The incumbent will collect biospecimens—including kidney biopsy tissue—and clinical data from medical records, schedule and conduct follow-up visits, and ensure accurate data entry into research databases. Proper handling and storage of human samples is essential.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining detailed study files, completing case report forms (paper and electronic), and ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements. The coordinator will also maintain databases, generate recruitment reports, assist with data analysis, and contribute to manuscript and grant report preparation.

This is an in-person position requiring regular attendance. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, communicate openly, and contribute to shared goals.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit study participants and obtain informed consent.
  • Organize and conduct baseline and follow-up study visits.
  • Collect, process, and store biological samples, including kidney biopsy tissue.
  • Extract clinical data from medical records and enter into research databases.
  • Maintain study documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity; complete case report forms.
  • Provide periodic reports on recruitment and study progress.
  • Assist with data analysis and contribute to manuscript and grant report preparation.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of related experience in clinical research or a healthcare setting.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Experience working in nephrology or genetic research studies.
  • Fluency in Spanish.

Other Requirements

  • Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance programs required for contact with human subjects + Contact with patients and/or human research subjects + Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements

Job Type

Officer of Administration, Regular, Hours Per Week: 35, Salary Range: $64,350 - $66,000
