Clinician Educator neurosurgeon (trauma/spine) - Neurosurgery

The Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine is recruiting for a Clinician Educator position at rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in neurosurgical trauma and spinal surgery.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educator is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

The successful applicant is required to have a M.D. degree and obtain medical licensure within the State of California.

Responsibilities will include the surgical and medical care of inpatients and outpatients at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) and Regional Medical Center (RMC), which are teaching affiliates of Stanford University School of Medicine. Primary clinical assignment will be at RMC, in San Jose, California, which is a busy Level-2 trauma center.

The appointment consists of extensive exposure to the surgical treatment of cranial and spinal trauma, tumor, as well as minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery. There will be ample opportunities for clinical research through well-established institutional tumor and trauma registries. There is availability of state-of-the-art image guidance systems, intraoperative CT, and 3D fluoroscopy. He/she will participate in weekly clinical conferences at Stanford and be involved with resident training.

Full-time faculty within the program include Drs. Harminder Singh, Marco Lee and Tene Cage and Adela Wu.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

  • Assistant Professor step 1-7 $358,000 - $376,000
  • Associate Professor step 1-7 $421,000 - $439,000
  • Professor step 1-7 $483,000 - $495,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
