Job Details
Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
Teach residential courses in the Department of Mathematics. Teaching responsibilities may include College Algebra, Elementary Functions and Coordinate Geometry, Calculus and Analytic Geometry I, Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning, Calculus and Analytical Geometry III, Introduction to Discrete Mathematics and Discrete Mathematics. The position requires a love of teaching, the ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats, knowledge of pedagogical best practices, the ability to use current teaching technology (LMS, e-textbooks, etc.), and a commitment to the evangelical standards and mission of Liberty University.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses in the Department of Mathematics. Record student grades in a timely fashion. Reports to Chair of the Department of Mathematics. Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner. Strong organizational skills Advanced computer skills. Classroom management and allocation of teaching resources. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in discipline taught (Mathematics).
- Credentials to teach Physics would be valuable.
- Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Mathematics or Statistics are highly desirable.
