Department Summary
The UCLA Depression Grand Challenge is a groundbreaking campus priority that was established to cut the global burden of depression on human health and well-being in half by 2050. Established in 2015, UCLA is using an interdisciplinary approach leveraging its own expertise and collaborating with outside entities representing academic, government, philanthropic and industry sectors to bring new understanding and treatments to the greatest health challenge of the 21st Century. Currently, the DGC is focused on discovering the types and causes of depression, developing new treatments and putting new knowledge and strategies into practice. The STAND Coach positions support various research and service projects funded through both external and internal sources.
Position Summary
The Depression Grand Challenge, a campus priority that focuses on cutting the global burden of depression on health and well-being in half by 2050, seeks to hire an already-certified STAND Coach to provide coaching services to DGC research and service participants. Responsibilities include providing coaching services, after-hour risk monitoring services, and administrative support for various DGC programs. This position is open to individuals who already have been trained and certified as STAND coaches. Candidate must have availabilty to work between 75% and 80% time. This is one of two concurrent postings so please be sure to apply to both.
Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
- Coaching experience Experience with providing effective STAND coaching (or orientations) in at least 20 sessions. (Required)
- Skill in prioritizing, management and organization sufficient to achieve the desired goals within established, accepted time frames, to optimize efficiency and minimize the duplication of effort. (Required)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish cooperative working relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds. (Required)
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
- Ability to collaborate and work with others to identify system challenges and work alongside them to deliver solutions. (Required)
- Ability to draft professional communication accessible to a variety of audiences with different educational backgrounds. (Required)
- Proficiency in various computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft, Google, and Adobe suites; Zoom video conferencing; and/or comfort in learning and trying new software. (Required)
- Previous management or leadership experience at work, school, and/or in a community organization. (Preferred)
- Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled in advance. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- Completed STAND coach training program and been certified by the STAND Coaching program to coach participants engaging with STAND curriculum. (Required) And
- Certified in exposures lessons/modules. (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
- CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
