Job Description
The Community Engagement and Prevention Specialist will work to promote a positive and inclusive community at Virginia Tech. This role involves facilitating workshops, providing resources, and creating an environment free from gender-based violence. The individual will support the development of programs and initiatives aimed at dismantling harmful norms, promoting emotional intelligence, fostering healthy relationships, and encouraging self-care amongst community members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, gender studies, or related field
- Experience in program facilitation, community engagement, or social justice work
- Strong understanding of gender-based violence, prevention and advocacy.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate educational and outreach programs
- Ability to adapt communication, programming, and outreach to meet the needs of diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, gender studies, or related field
- Experience providing sexual and gender-based prevention efforts in a complex, decentralized university setting experience with campus wide education and strategic plan implementation
- Knowledge of relevant federal laws including Title IX, VAWA, and Clery Act
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion, sensitivity and neutrality
- Computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Exempt: Not eligible for overtime

Salary range of $50,000 - $55,000
