Community Research Liaison
This position is located in the lab of Dr. Monica Rivera Mindt, within the Psychology Department at Fordham University, which is dedicated to: 1) Increasing the engagement of heterogenous populations in cognitive aging and dementia research; 2) Investigating group-based differences and related mechanisms in cognitive aging and dementia; and 3) Preparing professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively engage with individual from heterogenous backgrounds.
The Community Research Liaison plays a key role in working with community organizations, community members, and research staff to promote the outreach to and engagement, enrollment and retention of participants.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. Moreover, this position requires the majority of the work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus and community work locations. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location and occasionally weekend and/or evening hours.
Essential Functions:
- Works with recruitment hub sites to achieve local, regional, and national recruitment and retention goals.
- Develops and oversees a robust program of participant recruitment, engagement, retention, and tracking, including management of recruitment database entry and quality assurance.
- Works closely with local community-based organizations' (CBOs) program staff, key stakeholders, and community members to maintain strong working relationships and travel to CBOs, Fordham University, and recruitment-related events as needed.
- Screens, schedules, coordinates, and conducts participant study visits.
- Develops weekly reports about study activities and participates in weekly research and supervisory meetings.
- Oversees the development, dissemination, and management of all recruitment materials.
- Creates and maintains a calendar of events for study engagement and recruitment opportunities.
- Presents study at Community Advisory Boards (CAB) and other relevant community meetings.
- Creates participant engagement/retention materials (e.g., holiday cards, thank you notes).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in the Humanities or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in CBOs and/or study recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluent Spanish or Mandarin speakers are preferred. Prior experience with community engagement and diverse populations is a plus, as is experience being part of an academic clinical research group. Prior experience working with culturally and/or medically vulnerable and diverse populations is a plus.
