Regular Faculty work under the direction of their respective Associate Dean/Division Dean and are responsible for meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College and the Department Chair's approved course outline. Regular Faculty are also responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.
Regular Faculty are required to serve a provisional period from the date of employment until the completion of employment under three consecutive full year regular contracts.
This position may require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations. Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrent enrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools.
The required teaching schedule is August to May. The required pay schedule is September to August.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completed master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or programming-related field from a regionally accredited institution OR completed master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in computer related courses. (Related Degree: Networking, Cyber Security, Computer Information Systems, or Technology)
- Documented experience programming in low-level and/or high-level languages, such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or Assembly.
- Three years of industry experience in programming, information technology, systems analysis, and design.
- Teaching or training experience.
- Experience with various operating systems (Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to demonstrate or articulate a commitment to serving underrepresented populations or populations affected by societal inequities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced experience with Python programming.
- Documented experience using Learning Management Systems, such as Blackboard, Campus, Desire-2-Learn, or Moodle.
- Documented experience in web development software, such as HTML5, CSS, PHP, Javascript, Node.js, JSP, NetBeans, and ASP.
- Experience with secure programming software development
- Documented experience working with diverse learning populations.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish or another Latin-based language.
- Experience with computer architecture and assembly language programming
