The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Coordinator of Experiential & Justice-Involved Learning in our Learning and Academic Affairs department. This position coordinates with the New York State Department of Corrections Educational Supervisor to facilitate the delivery of MVCC curriculum in correctional facilities for the College in Prison Program (CIPP). The Coordinator also oversees the Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) process by advising students on navigating the CPL review process, facilitating CPL portfolio development, developing new CPL assessment methods with faculty, and collaborating with faculty to ensure academic integrity as it relates to all existing and newly developed CPL offerings. The Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for experiential and justice-involved learning, promotes program visibility, increased academic momentum, and supports institutional goals related to access, equity, and student success.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Advises prospective and current students on CPL (Credit for Prior Learning) eligibility, options, and procedures, and guides them through documenting experiences and preparing portfolios or assessments;

  • Serves as liaison between students, faculty evaluators, and online instructors to ensure transparent, timely, and fair processes;
  • Collaborates with faculty and academic departments to establish and maintain rigorous CPL assessment methods and opportunities and recommend appropriate course selections for students;
  • Conducts training and informational sessions for faculty, staff, students, and advisors on CPL processes, policies, and best practices;
  • Manages all steps of the CPL process, from application intake through transcript entry, ensuring accurate records and timely communication of result;
  • Coordinates instructional services, monitors enrollments, and ensures program integrity for the College in Prison Program (CIPP), including adherence to Department of Corrections policies, procedures, and safety protocols;
  • Collaborates with the New York State Department of Corrections Coordinator (DOCC) to process and orient instructors and co-facilitate DOCCS/CIPP training;
  • Promotes awareness of CPL opportunities through workshops, events, digital media, and print materials, while building partnerships with community organizations, employers, and workforce development entities;
  • Collects and maintains data on CPL participation, outcomes, and awarded credits; analyzes effectiveness; and prepares reports for institutional stakeholders;
  • Collaborates with the Coordinator of Assessment to align non-credit courses and prior work experience with CPL opportunities;
  • Assists in the development and implementation of CPL and CIPP policies, ensuring compliance with institutional, SUNY, state, DOCCS, and accreditor standards, while staying current with best practices in prior learning and correctional education;
  • Administers and monitors grant and contract expenditures, ensures budgetary compliance, and prepares timely certificates of residency as required;
  • Other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Director of Special Projects.
