Cyber Security Architect

About This Opportunity

The Cyber Security Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the University’s technical security architecture. This position is responsible for defining and overseeing security requirements across enterprise systems, ensuring that technical designs align with the University’s cyber security strategy, and providing expert guidance on secure solution development. Working within a collaborative and strategically focused environment, you will contribute to building a resilient, future-ready security capability that supports the University’s business and technology goals.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing secure solution architectures, technical plans, and governance processes that ensure alignment with cyber security strategies and standards.
  • Monitoring emerging technologies and threat landscapes to identify opportunities and risks, and translating insights into actionable technology roadmaps.
  • Providing expert advice and consultation to solution architects and business stakeholders on cyber security principles, requirements, and best practices.
  • Designing complex cyber security systems and models that balance functionality, performance, and risk management while contributing to the evolution of enterprise architecture.

About You

You are an experienced and forward-thinking cyber security professional with strong technical architecture expertise and a deep understanding of enterprise-scale systems. You thrive on designing secure, effective, and innovative technology solutions that protect organisational assets and enable business outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward) in IT, or equivalent relevant experience and training.
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Security Architect, IT Infrastructure Engineer/Architect, or Solution Architect in large or complex organisations.
  • Proven experience designing and communicating IT and security solutions that align with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Strong understanding of system design, architecture components, interfaces, and data requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders, build relationships, and influence outcomes across technical and business teams.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, threat environments, and modern security frameworks.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a clear accountability framework, exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills in complex situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning and applying best practices in cyber security and enterprise architecture.
