Duties/Responsibilities:

Mentorship Facilitation and Program Development. Complete content specific onboarding training and ongoing professional development through learning mentoring/coaching skills and other skills. Practice and implement using mentorship/coaching skills with your mentee and other mentors. Potential to become a lead mentor to support other new mentors in their development. Assist in the continued creation of the Dawg2Dawg program through offering feedback and gathering research to support curriculum development/changes. Effectively deliver culturally competent coaching/mentoring to various students. Percentage of time: 90

Performs related work and other duties as assigned. Opportunity to work with our joint Dialogue Dawg Program which facilitates outreach events, and presentations around our mission to create civic engagement, community stewardship, and restorative/repair practices. Percentage of time: 10

Position Summary: The Dawg2Dawg Mentoring Program is a peer-to-peer mentoring program where students can support other students. Our mentors will support their mentees with goal setting/planning, gaining community connections through interpersonal skill and relationship development, and introducing students to the campus resources. This position is a part-time/flexible position which will complete no more than 20 hours a week to include training/professional development, mentoring responsibilities, preparation for mentoring sessions, and scheduled supervision sessions with supervisor in a group and/or individual setting. This position has an opportunity to work with our Dialogue Dawg program, which is responsible for giving presentations around civic engagement, community stewardship, and communal and relationship restorative/repair practices. This position will manage multiple tasks simultaneously while remaining actively engaged in duties. This position will communicate effectively with staff and peers to ensure tasks are completed accurately with ongoing deadlines.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position: Preferred Major in Public Health, Heath Promotion, Social Work, Communications or related field. Previous experience with public speaking.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Ability to facilitate challenging conversations with respect and empathy. Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, on campus and in the community. A commitment to working with various populations.

Physical Demands: Transport light weight equipment (computer and program materials) across campus and to offsite presentations.
