GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Supports, advises, and collaborates with faculty and department chairpersons in the development and implementation of academic initiatives, new projects, and other innovative initiatives. This position also oversees the planning and management of instructional budgets for Health Professions Division departments.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership for planning, developing, and assessment of educational programs within the Division that includes the following Departments: Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Radiography, and Allied Health.
- Leads the development of new academic programs to strengthen the College’s academic program portfolio.
- Ensures that external accreditation processes and internal program assessment processes of the Division are completed in a rigorous and timely manner according to agreed schedules.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of articulation and affiliation agreements to support program operation and student transfer.
- Ensures that programs and services meet the educational needs of students within the Academic Division, and actively participates in College-wide recruitment and retention activities.
- Supervises and evaluates a staff of professional and support personnel, as needed in accordance with applicable College policies and labor agreements, and provides opportunities for their training and professional growth. Fosters a climate that supports diversity in the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff.
- Participates on committees, including those that address the College's Strategic Plan, serves on the Deans' Council, and conducts regular meetings with Department Chairs, faculty and advisory committees.
- Ensures effective communication and decision-making with departments in the Division.
- Participates in grant writing efforts.
- Establishes plans and communicates needs for facilities and/or renovation of facilities.
- Plans, implements, and monitors Division and department operating and capital budgets and recommends adoption of same to the Vice President, Academic Affairs.
- Ensures the development of short- and long-range enrollment plans for the Division and with the campus. In collaboration with the Registrar's Office and the Department Chairs, oversees the course schedule each semester so that it meets the needs of students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a health-related discipline
- A significant and progressively broad record of academic administrative experience
- Five (5) years’ teaching experience
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of new programs, articulation, and affiliation agreements
- Experience in and/or commitment to shared governance
- Experience with current assessment practices, with emphasis on student learning outcomes and program reviews
- Experience working in a unionized environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Earned doctorate in a health-related discipline
- Experience as a Dean, Assistant Dean, or Department Chair at a community college
- Experience teaching at the community college level
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

- Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
RETIREMENT: Pension Eligible
