Saint Anselm College invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Dean of the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences, housed in the new, state of the art, 40,000 square foot Grappone Hall. The Dean will work collaboratively with the Directors of the well-established Undergraduate Nursing Program and the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs, the Director of the Continuing Nursing Education Program, and the faculty leaders of the undergraduate Health Sciences and Community and Public Health programs. Responsibilities will include shaping and implementing the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the Jean School, and facilitating the achievement of all academic outcomes and competencies. This position is an exciting opportunity to lead the nursing, public health and health science programs, with a focus on partnerships, fundraising, and marketing/enrollment.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative, strategic leader with strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of supporting academic programming and developing community partnerships with local health-care organizations. The Dean will be charged with ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies, including NECHE, CCNE, and the New Hampshire Board of Nursing as well as other accreditation bodies. Consistent with College policies and procedures, the Dean shall be appointed by the President of the College and will report directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The next Dean must be committed to the advancement and support of the College's mission through its liberal arts, Catholic, and Benedictine identity (all faiths are welcome).

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Nursing or equivalent doctoral degree and active RN License
- Significant experience in undergraduate and graduate nursing and health related education
- Substantial teaching experience, with knowledge surrounding pedagogy and online course delivery, including the delivery of advanced practice programs
- Academic or administrative leadership experience, including strategic plan development and implementation
- Demonstrated interest in and appreciation for the liberal arts
- Commitment to academic freedom
Initial Priorities:
- Engage in strategic plan implementation in support of the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences and in alignment with the strategic plan of the College. This includes ensuring initiatives are properly staffed and resourced, and working collaboratively with various College constituencies in support of new and ongoing programming (e.g., Centers, Community and Public Health and Health Sciences curriculum and internships, additional graduate programs)
- Foster an inclusive environment which promotes engagement with a diverse student body, and supports racial and social justice
- Act as a primary representative with all internal and external constituencies associated with the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Focus on relationship building between current and future healthcare partners to strengthen community ties and work toward partnerships promoting experiential learning for students
- Collaborate with the college's Advancement team and execute a targeted fundraising and engagement plan for the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences
- Collaborate with the Office of College Communications and Marketing as well as the Office of Enrollment to recruit and enroll academically qualified, talented students, including students from diverse backgrounds
- Collaborate with the Office of Partnerships to build strong and sustainable partnerships with a variety of community and educational stakeholders
- Support faculty and program leaders in the assessment, revision, and development of curriculum
- Develop staffing and budget plans for the Jean School
- Represent the Jean School on College committees, as well as other groups designated by the President or Vice President for Academic Affairs
- Work collaboratively with central academic leadership, Faculty Senate, and Administration to further the goals of the Jean School and the College
Programmatic Details:
The Dean of the Jean School of Nursing and Health Sciences will
- Supervise Jean School department and program leaders; those who will report directly to the Dean include the Director of Undergraduate Nursing, the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs, the Director of Continuing Nursing Education, the Faculty Director, Center for Health Sciences Simulation, the Faculty Leaders of the Health Sciences and Community and Public Health programs, and the Jean School administrative staff. The Dean and the leadership of nursing and other health-related programs will work collaboratively on existing and new programs
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to
- Hire, evaluate, and retain qualified faculty, adjunct faculty, clinical faculty, and staff
- Ensure program effectiveness through ongoing curriculum evaluation
- Assess new programs which meet the needs of the community of interest and complement the mission and goals of the Jean School
- Represent the Jean School, or arranging for representation through a designee, at on- and off-campus events including, but not limited to: New Student and Accepted Student Days, Sigma Theta Tau Induction, Alumni meetings, Honors Convocation, Pinning Ceremonies, Commencement, and various community and College events
- Convene ad hoc committees of faculty, staff, and/or students necessary to the administration of the Jean School
- Support faculty in the promotion and tenure process
- Promote interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration within the Jean School and College
Accreditation
- Assure compliance with regulatory requirements including NECHE, CCNE, NH Board of Nursing, and other accreditation bodies
Budget
- Work closely with the Finance Office on all matters pertaining to the Jean School budget
- Maintain accountability for a balanced Jean School budget
- Assure delivery of the curriculum through full-time, adjunct, and overload budget
Fundraising
- Work in conjunction with the Office of Advancement to lead efforts for external fundraising from philanthropic organizations/individuals
- Actively pursue grants and other outside funding for major projects and equipment
- Identify sources to support student research, faculty research, and scholarship
Partnerships
- Expand the community engagement of the Jean School by fostering current and new partnerships
