"Dental Lab Support Technician (ICST 2)-RIDE"

Job Summary

The RIDE Program in the College of Health Science and Public Health is currently seeking a 0.5 FTE (50%) Dental Lab Support Technician (Instructional Classroom and Support Technician 2) that works 12-months each year. The RIDE Program is a unique program involving two Universities and is an extension of the University of Washington School of Dentistry (UWSOD).

This part-time position reports to the RIDE Director, Operations Manager, and the Simulation and Labs Manager. The Dental Lab Support Technician must develop and foster strong working relationships within EWU and externally with UWSOD. The technician will work closely with the Simulation and Labs Manager to assist in student instruction, prepare instructional programs, teaching aids, materials, and equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of dental equipment and materials
• Work experience as a dental assistant, hygienist, lab technician, or equivalent training
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive approach supportive of students, faculty, staff, and the public

Job Duties

Assist in the operation of preclinical laboratory and lecture courses (40%): Set up and take down labs, operate technology, instruct on equipment, develop programs, coordinate preparations, demonstrate techniques, tutor students, and ensure lab consistency.

Assist with organization and maintenance of supplies, equipment, and inventories (40%): Research items, maintain inventories, order materials, stock labs, manage chemical inventory, provide support for procedures, and interface with staff.

Assist with operations of the simulation and dental lab (20%): Monitor compliance, orient on policies, ensure safety, evaluate equipment, maintain cleanliness, and perform maintenance.
