Limited Term Position - Continuation of this position is contingent upon future funding from the Iowa Department of Corrections

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, the department assistant performs clerical work at the administrative level such as composing routine correspondence, word processing documents, maintaining budgets and records, administering official HSED exams, and obtaining and providing factual information requiring knowledge of policies and procedures of the Anamosa State Penitentiary, Kirkwood Community College, and the Iowa Department of Corrections. A degree of independent judgment and cooperation with other employees and programs is essential. The position also involves working with confidential information.

The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain class schedules and student records through the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access,) ICON, CASAS TE, and other software programs.
  • Answer telephones, provide information, route calls, and operate basic office equipment.
  • Maintain and order classroom materials and supplies.
  • Assist with the compiling of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Assist with new and current students, as well as workshops, conferences, and other activities.
  • Administer official HSED testing sessions.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.
