The College of Staten Island (CSI) is a City University of New York (CUNY) senior College organized around two academic divisions and three schools, with over 10,000 students. CSI offers a broad range of academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences, and in several professional areas. The College awards associate's, bachelor's, master's and clinical doctoral degrees, and in collaboration with The CUNY Graduate Center, numerous Ph.D. degrees. Reporting to the Executive Director for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director for the CSI Foundation, the Development Research Specialist:
- Provides support to staff with analytical, statistical and financial reports and donor data for fundraising planning and prospect management.
- Conducts ongoing research on current and prospective donors using print and electronic sources as well as in-house resources. Supports staff by preparing biographical profiles and research reports, as well as providing analysis, research and prospect data to assist with the development of fundraising strategies.
- In consultation with development staff, establishes procedures to create, document and maintain an effective prospect management and tracking system.
- Functions as primary database administrator and manages all aspects of the CRM (Raiser’s Edge or similar product). Maintains the integrity of the database, including performing systematic cleanup, imports/exports, global updates, attributes and code table management, as well as routine maintenance when needed. Serves as primary liaison, communicating with Blackbaud or other service provider regarding upgrades to database, troubleshooting and scheduling staff training sessions.
- Serves as primary liaison to the CSI Foundation Finance Office for gift processing, recording and reconciliation, as well as liaise with IT for management of department's online presence.
- Coordinates the timely preparation, submission and recording of all acknowledgment letters and gift receipts.
- Prepares financial or other reports for internal and external use as may be necessary, such as the twice-yearly CAE Report.
- Coordinates and executes all online communications using Blackbaud's (Raiser’s Edge) Online Express and/or other systems as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Preferred qualifications include:
- 3-5 years in a similar role at an institution of higher education
- Experience related to planning, coordination and execution of campaigns and initiatives, including all aspects of event registration management.
- Experience with maintaining and making recommendations for policies and procedures to ensure data consistency.
- Demonstrated interest and ability to remain current with new resources and technologies relevant to prospect research.

Under management direction, the Researcher will identify and profile possible sources to provide private support for College fundraising efforts and support College fundraising strategies and objectives
- Identifies, evaluates and tracks college's top donors and prospects
- Reports on giving trends, responding to inquiries and preparing concise summaries of giving trends of individuals, corporations, and foundations
- Coordinates prospect and alumni research and tracking
- Updates research and donor databases as needed
- Prepares briefing reports and recommends appropriate fundraising and solicitation strategies.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

$68,364 - $74,490 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
