Position Description

The position of Director, Dental Hygiene Program is classified as a 12-month administrative appointment. The Director reports directly to the Department Chair of Health Professions with primary responsibilities: (1) maintain high standards of instruction, (2) maintain a climate conducive to learning, (3) ensure program compliance and sustain full accreditation through CODA. Responsibilities include: ensuring accreditation, leading faculty, serving as point of contact, developing policies, managing curriculum and schedule, faculty assignments, mentoring.

Required Experience

Minimum of three (3) years full-time college teaching experience and practical experience as dental hygienist. Experience with CODA accreditation.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field with min 18 semester/27 quarter graduate hours in Dental Hygiene. If Master’s in related, Bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene required. Must meet requirements for Assistant or Associate Professor rank.

Assistant Professor: As above.

Associate Professor: As above, plus previously held Associate Professor rank for min one year.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Two (2) years supervisory experience.
• Ph.D. or Ed.D.
• Academic leadership experience.
• Excellent communication, familiarity with accreditation.
• Experience with evaluation, tenure, assessment, budgeting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Leadership to facilitate positive exchange and excellence.
• Ability to teach Dental Hygiene courses.
• Effective communication, organizational skills.
• Knowledge of instructional technology.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving.

Licenses, Certifications

Active Dental Hygiene GA State license OR other state license, obtain GA teaching license within 4 months.

Work Hours: May require non-standard hours (day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend).

Salary: Commensurate with Experience
