DIRECTOR-GRANTS MANAGEMENT-HSOM

To oversee the Heersink School of Medicine s (HSOM) grants award management including pre- and post- award shared services activities, grant preparation, consultation, customer service, financial and non-financial compliance with legal and institutional policies, federal and sponsor regulations, and to build, maintain, and enhance cohesive and comprehensive protocols and policies. Under the guidance of the Senior Executive Officer Finance and Administration, oversee initiatives for the HSOM research collaboration with the executive directors for finance, operations, and research administration, while also attending various HSOM events and meetings, such as strategic retreats.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, manages, and oversees all grant-related activities throughout the grant life cycle from submission to closeout across HSOM, including the design of schoolwide systems and processes for grant transfers, material transfer agreements, data use agreements, and other related activities.
  • Oversees executive-level operations for HSOM pre-award and post-award shared services.
  • Works closely with central partners (e.g., OSP) on grant-related processes and systems, while also collaborating with central and departmental partners on special projects related to grant awards.
  • Serves as a systems designer, training specialist, and facilitator on schoolwide grant-related issues by working with executive directors of operations, finance, and research administration to operationalize grant management processes and procedures, while also collaborating with other HSOM executive directors, central partners, and department leaders to develop, implement, and maintain trainings and seminars.
  • Works with the HSOM Office of Research to create guidelines, collect data, and initiate reports, while collaborating with the executive director of research administration to prepare comprehensive research activities, operational reports, and educational objectives aligned with the HSOM mission.
  • Provides comprehensive guidance on all aspects of grant preparation, submission, consultation, and facilitation for HSOM departments, including resolving administrative pre- and post-award issues such as grant transfers.
  • Develops SOPs and reporting/tracking requirements as needed, identifies highly complex problems, allocates resources, and facilitates negotiations between funding agencies and faculty to resolve conflicts.
  • Manages post-award administration of regulatory and grant-related agreements, submissions, supplements and other grant-related document requests.
  • Serves as liaison with HSOM departments and central partners related to lab research in handling matters involving and related to extramural research funding, including but not limited to regulatory submissions, required training, equipment acquisition, ARP, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $99,090 - $161,025

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Health, Public Administration or other related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
