Director of College Personnel
We are currently accepting applications for the Director of College Personnel. This role leads all scouting and evaluation efforts related to college football talent, including current Stanford student-athletes and external prospects in the transfer portal. As the program’s primary talent evaluator for college-level personnel decisions, the Director of College Personnel will help shape roster strategy through assessing fit, value, timing, and retention priorities. This position reports to the Associate General Manager and is a one-year fixed-term appointment.
Responsibilities include:
- Own the evaluation process for all current rostered players and transfer-portal prospects.
- Work with Assistant GM to develop and maintain Stanford’s internal player valuation model, including “roster market” insights and position-based replacement value metrics.
- Partner with the General Manager and Head Coach to set roster priorities, make data-informed retention decisions, and identify talent gaps.
- Lead the scouting calendar for the portal cycle — monitoring entry windows, tracking key prospects, and coordinating with coaches and recruiting staff to build relationships where appropriate.
- Build and manage a comprehensive scouting database, integrating internal analytics and external scouting sources.
- Produce written and visual scouting reports for staff meetings and decision sessions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Recruiting Strategy on evaluation consistency between high school and college pipelines.
- Manage communication and collaboration with analysts and coaches on roster management projects (e.g., positional value, depth projections, scholarship planning).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Some scouting background (NFL or college) preferred.
- Strong analytical and evaluative instincts.
- Must be comfortable managing complex data sets, film review processes and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
The expected pay range for this position is $162,809 - $197,109 per annum.
