Job Summary: Reporting to the Deputy Athletics Director, the Director for Compliance provides excellent service to student-athletes, coaches, and institutional staff members. The Director is responsible for maintaining compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations and for providing support, guidance, and leadership to Morgan State University student-athletes.
- Conduct initial eligibility evaluations on all recruited prospective student-athletes to ensure adherence to NCAA standards
- Oversee all aspects of recruiting: Monitor and approve official and unofficial visits, oversee approval process for camps and clinics, coordinate the usage of recruiting software (ARMS), and produce, send and ensure receipt of notification of transfer requests.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of the comprehensive NCAA rules education program for athletics staff, student-athletes, boosters/alumni and staff outside of athletics
- Provide NCAA and MEAC rules interpretations for coaches, student-athletes, athletic department staff, constituency groups, boosters, and the Morgan State University community
- Review and approve all activities involving student-athletes and promotional activities, employment, and other requests
- Assist with the submission of interpretations, and process violations and waivers in RSRO.
- Serve as the Athletics Compliance Office lead for all sports in the areas of NCAA Bylaws 16 (Awards, Benefits, and Expenses) & 17 (Playing & Practice Seasons).
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requested Minimum Qualifications: Education: The successful Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited College or University. Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with student services in intercollegiate athletics is required.
Other Preferences for Consideration: Preferences: Candidates with a Master’s Degree or Juris Doctorate may be given preference. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of NCAA software (CA, LSDBi, RSRO, etc). Excellent Communication skills (Verbal and Written). Must be able to understand and communicate the intents and rationales associated with NCAA legislation, as necessary. Knowledge of NCAA Eligibility Rules.
