Director of Corporate Programs, Executive Education - Heinz College

The Director of Corporate Programs is a senior, strategic leader responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of customized executive education programs. Reporting to the Associate Dean, this role leads the design, development, and delivery of tailored learning solutions for global clients across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

This is a pivotal growth role with significant autonomy. The Director is expected to independently develop and scale corporate engagements, building a high-impact portfolio that reflects the academic excellence and real-world relevance of Heinz College and Carnegie Mellon University.

Core Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth and Market Development (25%)

  • Drive expansion: Identify and prioritize high-value markets, such as federal agencies and tech platforms, to grow our custom portfolio.
  • Build partnerships: Cultivate a robust pipeline of organizational partners and represent Heinz Executive Education externally.
  • Collaborate on outreach: Work together with our Marketing team to develop acquisition campaigns and thought-leadership content.

Client Relationship Management (25%)

  • Consult with partners: Serve as the primary contact for custom clients, conducting needs assessments to co-create solutions for their capability gaps.
  • Manage the pipeline: Develop proposals and budgets that align educational excellence with fiscal performance.

Program Development and Delivery Excellence (25%)

  • Build with faculty: Partner with elite faculty to co-build evidence-based, modular curricula.
  • Coordinate execution: Work with our Program Delivery Manager to ensure a flawless participant experience across all instructional technology.

Financial Management and Operations (15%)

  • Ensure profitability: Monitor budgets and profitability metrics for each engagement to ensure fiscal transparency and cost allocation.

Team Leadership and Collaboration (10%)

  • Mentor and lead: Develop a culture of excellence by supervising our team of program managers and coordinators.
  • Unify our efforts: Collaborate across Marketing and Advancement to integrate our outreach with university-wide priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, Management, Public Policy, or a related field. A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
  • 8-10 years of dynamic leadership in executive education or consultative business development.
  • Expertise: A proven track record of "consultative selling" to C-suite and senior government decision-makers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams within higher education or professional services organizations.
  • Familiarity with adult learning theory and digital/hybrid delivery models.

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
  • Work Posture: This position follows a hybrid schedule with an on-campus presence 3 days a week.
  • Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend commitments.
