About the Role

In the Director of Development, Campaign Partnerships role, you will engage with a diverse array of stakeholders, including philanthropists, industry leaders, community partners, and academic experts, to drive transformative initiatives across medicine, health, sports, research, and education. Responsibilities

  • Leading strategy and delivery of our sector-leading campaign partnerships across major gifts and philanthropy.
  • Working closely with high-net-worth donors, industry leaders, and academic innovators to advance transformational projects in health, medicine, sports, education, and research.
  • Implementing the University’s development strategies with the Campaign Partners, including, but not limited to, Chris O’Brien’s Lifehouse, Children’s Medical Research Institute, and University Colleges and Sports, to continue to build annual funds raised within the units.
  • Developing new strategically valuable campaign partnerships.
  • Building a culture of philanthropy across relevant units to increase awareness of and engagement with the fundraising process.
  • Taking a leadership role in fundraising within the relevant units and providing general fundraising counsel to the executive and academic leadership of those units.
  • Inspiring and growing a high-performing team of fundraising professionals dedicated to making a global impact.
  • Collaborating with deans, researchers, clinicians, and University executives to create compelling cases for support that resonate with donors worldwide.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated success in closing multi-million dollar gifts and meeting stretch financial targets.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide robust, tactical advice on fundraising strategy.
  • Current knowledge of best development practices.
  • Expert influencing skills and the demonstrated ability to coordinate and optimise outcomes from competing objectives across the institution through collaboration, negotiation and priority setting to mitigate internal competition.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor, inspire and motivate a group of ambitious and goal-oriented professionals.
  • Proven ability to present complex information clearly and compellingly in writing and in person.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing, cultivating and maintaining high-level, strong relationships with influential donors.
  • Experience building collaborative working relationships with colleagues and senior leadership to achieve the organisation’s goals.
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or complex mission-driven institutions is highly desirable.
