Salary Range: Up to $80,750/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Details

Job Summary

The Director of Field Education provides oversight for the UT San Antonio Social Work Program's field education component, and ensures that the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and department standards and policies are in compliance. The Director is responsible for recruiting, approving and monitoring field agencies and field instructors. Additionally, the Director oversees the assignments of MSW and BSW students to sites and assigns faculty liaisons to monitor practicum experiences.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the recruitment and development of field placement sites.
  2. Provides consultation and coordinates all field education liaison assignments.
  3. Creates and plans a regular review of field practicum documents for students, administration, faculty, and field instructors.
  4. Develops informational sessions and orientation experiences to prepare students, field instructors, and faculty liaisons for field placement.
  5. Teach one undergraduate and/or graduate course during fall, spring,and summer semesters.
  6. Coordinates and supervises all personnel with field education related responsibilities.
  7. Oversees student progress in field practicum assignments.
  8. Maintains the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) policy statements and standards. Assumes primary responsibility for accreditation of the field component of the MSW and BSW programs.
  9. Represents the Department of Social Work through curriculum and committee work and in community outreach efforts.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Two (2) years of post-MSW practice experience in social work.
  • Candidate must either have licensure (LMSW) or be licensure-eligible and complete licensure within one year of hire.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Clinical Licensure (LCSW) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Office Environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events.
  • Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the department.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
