As Director of Financial Reporting, you will lead a team of finance professionals providing external reporting, subsidiary accounting, company secretarial, and other specialist finance services to the University of Oxford.

Location: Great Clarendon Street, Oxford with option of hybrid working

About the Role

Key accountabilities include:

  • Managing internal and external financial reporting requirements, ensuring they are carried out in adherence to reporting timetables.
  • Producing the University financial statements, providing relevant, accurate and timely information to Committees across the University for review.
  • Working closely with key divisions to ensure that the year-end timetables and production of financial statements including their submissions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Subsidiary companies accounting teams
  • Partnering with the external auditors to plan and deliver the year end external audit.
  • Supporting the College Accounts Committee on aggregating the college accounts, producing financial risk KPIs, and providing insight and support to the Committee on college financial performance

About You

To be considered for this senior leadership role you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Professional qualification such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA, with relevant post qualification experience in a complex financial reporting role, with management of external auditors.
  • Proven technical accounting skills, including understanding and interpreting financial policies, regulations and reporting requirements
  • Effective leadership of large teams and strong partnering skills across a large complex organisation
  • Strategic thinking, taking an open and long-term view of possibilities, articulating a clear vision that engages colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Clear written and oral communication to university committees including the Audit and Scrutiny Committee
