Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Grant Strategy & Development

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive grants strategy focused on operational, capital, and programmatic support.
  • Research, identify, and qualify federal, state, local, and private grant opportunities aligned with institutional goals.
  • Coordinate and write competitive proposals, including multi-year and six-figure submissions.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements for grant applications in coordination with the Finance Office.
  • Oversee reporting and renewal processes for existing grants, ensuring high-quality stewardship.

Government Relations & Public Partnerships

  • Serve as the primary liaison to public sector partners, including state and federal agencies.
  • Cultivate and maintain productive working relationships with grantors, elected officials, and government agencies.
  • Monitor legislative and funding developments relevant to higher education.

Institutional Collaboration

  • Assist faculty, academic leadership, and administrative departments and support grant concepts that achieve strategic priorities.
  • Support grant compliance processes and reporting in coordination with finance and sponsored programs.
  • Create and refine workflows, tools, and templates to streamline the grant application and management process.

The estimated salary range is $64,000 to $68,000 per year for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive grant development experience, including a proven track record of securing six-figure awards.
  • Demonstrated experience with state and federal grant applications and compliance processes.
  • Strong writing, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Previous experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge and experience with government relations, legislative processes, and public funding mechanisms.
  • Experience managing multiple complex grant projects simultaneously.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to align funding opportunities with institutional mission.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and build internal partnerships.
  • Knowledge of grants management systems and federal reporting platforms (e.g., Grants.gov, SAM.gov)
