Director of Innovation Central Brisbane

  • Remuneration: $172,761 to $193,229 pa (HEW10) (inclusive of $145,985 to $163,281 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Gardens Point (hybrid option available)
  • Open to: Current staff members of QUT who have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the fixed-term appointment. In support of our strategic priority of Indigenous Australian success, Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islander people who are not QUT staff are also eligible and encouraged to apply. Please note that current staff wishing to be considered for secondment to this position must seek prior approval from their supervisor before submitting an application.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Director of Innovation Central Brisbane to join Office of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Law.

QUT seeks an ambitious and experienced engagement professional to successfully lead and grow Innovation Central Brisbane (ICB). The Director ICB is a key role for industry engagement within QUT’s Faculty of Business and Law, with significant responsibility for the partnership between Cisco and Queensland University of Technology. This position will be responsible for all business functions of ICB, including leadership in the development of business and strategy, oversight of resource planning and allocation, internal and external stakeholder management, representing the Centre on national committees, and engaging in partner management and research project development.

It forms part of Cisco’s national network of Innovation Centres, operating within the Faculty of Business and Law. The Faculty of Business and Law comprises the QUT Business School and QUT Law. What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications with extensive management experience in business development.
  2. Demonstrated strategic focus and problem-solving capability in relation to identifying, securing and growing industry relationships and acquiring new business opportunities.
  3. Familiarity with business development in the context of higher education and research-intensive environments.
  4. Excellent stakeholder management, with demonstrated success in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, including CEOs, to identify business opportunities and foster collaboration towards implementing solutions.
  5. Exceptional written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, including demonstrated ability to make presentations in a range of settings to a range of audiences.
  6. Proven ability to lead and influence diverse teams to project manage the establishment, delivery and reporting governance of industry partnered research programs.
  7. Demonstrated ability for continuous improvement in complex environments with high level of initiative to work independently and make decisions that strategically align to organisational goals.
