Summary of Position
Job Summary
The Academic Affairs & Workforce Innovation Division is seeking a visionary Director to lead the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). We are looking for a collaborative, equity-minded leader who provides strategic direction for the TLC and champions inclusive, evidence-based teaching practices. This role plays a key part in enhancing student learning, supporting faculty and instructor growth, and driving institutional success through impactful professional development and instructional innovation.
The Director designs and delivers high-impact professional learning experiences grounded in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility (DEIBA) principles. This position uses disaggregated student data to guide faculty and instructor development, address equity gaps, and support student success across all instructional modalities. By partnering with academic leaders, faculty, instructional technologists, and student support services, the Director promotes a culture of continuous instructional improvement aligned with college priorities.
This role leads onboarding for new faculty, facilitates faculty learning communities, and offers workshops and consultations focused on inclusive teaching, curriculum design, assessment strategies, and the use of instructional technologies. The Director also evaluates the impact of TLC programs, contributes to strategic planning, and ensures faculty and instructor development efforts remain relevant, data-informed, and accessible.
A successful candidate possesses strong leadership, collaboration, and instructional development skills, and is at ease with the following:
- Equity-Driven Leadership: Embeds DEIBA principles into all professional development efforts and uses student outcome data to promote inclusive teaching practices that close equity gaps.
- Strategic Collaboration: Builds strong, cross-functional partnerships with faculty, staff, and leadership to align instructional development with institutional goals.
- Instructional Expertise and Innovation: Applies current research, inclusive andragogy, and instructional design strategies to support teaching excellence across all modalities.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of adult learning theories (andragogy), inclusive pedagogy, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Expertise in curriculum and instructional design, including UDL and outcomes-based approaches.
- Ability to design and deliver effective, equity-minded professional development for faculty and instructors.
- Skilled in using disaggregated data to assess and improve teaching and learning practices.
- Familiarity with instructional technologies and strategies for online and hybrid learning.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and supporting faculty at all career stages.
- Capacity to lead projects aligned with institutional goals and accreditation needs.
- Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in instruction.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trust and foster innovation.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience in education, curriculum and instruction, higher education, instructional design or related field -or- a master's degree and three years of experience.
- Experience in teaching and faculty development in higher education, with a strong foundation in inclusive and equity-centered practices.
- Demonstrated experience in instructional technology, online/hybrid curriculum development.
- Strong facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to culturally responsive education and student-centered teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in grant program management.
Physical & Cognitive Demands

- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
