Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.
Major/Essential Functions
- Lead Student Conduct Official for University: manages adjudication of alleged Code of Student Conduct policy violations and Academic Misconduct procedures. Oversight of the University Hearing Panel process including recruitment and training of panel members.
- Ensuring due process and procedural rights of students in the student conduct process. Provide guidance and direction on interpretation of the Code of Student Conduct. Ensure education on the Code of Student Conduct is conducted regularly and at appropriate university events. Responsible for assisting with the annual review and revisions of the Code of Student Conduct including monitoring of recommended changes.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist the Assistant Dean of Students with the overall administration of the third-party Maxient student conduct database solution. Maintains student conduct in accordance with University policy.
- Assist the Assistant Dean of Students with the oversight of the student conduct appeals process (including appellate officials).
- Overall responsibility for supervision and evaluation of department staff including supervision of Associate and Assistant Directors, and Administrative Business Assistant. Provide leadership and professional development for staff. Oversight of staff member development in line with best practices and staff training.
- Responsible for departmental budget, strategic planning, goal setting, annual reports, and assessments. Assist with specialized reports including those associated with The Clery Act, and other institutional compliance reports.
- Serve as primary case manager for conduct cases and for report to the Office of Student Conduct. Serve as primary spokesperson for the office in coordination with TTU Communications and Marketing and the Office of the Dean of Students on matters pertaining to student conduct.
- Assist with Title IX and student organization investigations/adjudication process as requested or deemed necessary. Knowledge and application of legal issues in higher education, student service issues, and best practices.
- Oversight of budget including the preparation of budget reports during budget preparation period and annual budget review. Demonstrates effective time management, high level organizational skills, professional presentation and public speaking.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
- Progressive experience in a student conduct setting with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Experience with Behavioral Intervention Teams (BIT) and crisis or risk management.
- Experience administering academic integrity processes.
- Knowledge of student affairs best practices and developmental approaches.
- Experience with Behavioral Intervention Teams (BIT) and assessing risk or threat concerns.
Pay Range
$78,900 - $102,600 - $126,200
