Early Childhood Coach
Summary of Position
The Child Care Innovations department at Red Rocks Community College manages a range of funding sources, including state, federal, county, and private contracts—and serves as the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency for eight counties. Through an interagency agreement with the Colorado Department of Human Services, the department also licenses facilities in six counties.
Our mission is to improve the quality, access, availability, and equity of early childhood services and supports. We accomplish this through regulatory oversight, training, technical assistance, advocacy, and strategic community partnerships that promote school readiness and family well-being.
The Early Childhood Coach is responsible for providing on-site coaching and technical assistance to early childhood education providers to support continuous quality improvement. This role focuses on building learning-focused relationships with providers to strengthen early learning environments, support best practice implementation, and ensure alignment with quality standards and initiative goals. The coach works directly with early learning staff to enhance their capacity through observations, feedback, and development of quality improvement plans based on assessment data.
In addition, this position collaborates with other coaches, initiative staff, and funders, contributing to data collection and required reporting. The role also includes providing technical assistance via phone or email to licensed childcare providers or families seeking childcare. Some evening or weekend hours may be required to accommodate provider availability.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office programs, effective problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in diverse program settings
- Demonstrated knowledge related to components early childhood program assessment tools and processes including, but not limited to ECERS, and/or FCCERS
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 30 credit hours in the early childhood field or Directors Certificate from a regionally accredited college, or Colorado Early Childhood Professional Credential Level IV or higher.
- Must possess or meet Colorado licensing requirements for Family Child Care, small or large Center Director, Early Childhood Teacher, or Program Director.
- Three (3) years of experience working in the early childhood field as a licensed family child care provider, Early Childhood Teacher, or center Director.
Preferred Qualifications
- A current Colorado Early Childhood Coaching Credential
- Certification on one or more Early Childhood Environment Rating tools
- Five or more years in a quality rated or accredited child care facility
- Verifiable experience coaching, mentoring and/or training adults
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- The position requires travel to and between child care facilities
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary
Starting salary range for this position is $45,215 -$52,788 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-non-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
