Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an Edit Media Specialist. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with members of the Rutgers Business School communications and marketing team, this position creates video content to help raise the preeminence and visibility of Rutgers Business School.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Produce assigned and self-initiated videos that market Rutgers Business School's graduate and undergraduate programs, student experiences, alumni successes, and faculty research in a compelling, creative, engaging, and professional style
- Coordinate distribution to a wide audience through the Rutgers Business School YouTube channel, website, social media and other platforms
- Write, edit and photograph with an enthusiasm for video storytelling for all projects
- Utilize digital video editing systems such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, photo editing programs, and content management systems
- Occasionally fulfill dual functions in both video and photography
- Manage multiple projects with varying deadlines for the RBS Community
- Collaborate with colleagues within different areas of RBS offering creative new ideas for presenting video content about academic programs, academic research, student experiences and alumni successes
- Monitor emerging trends in videography and social media and new features on social media that enhance the use of video
- Continually build on current knowledge and skills to stay relevant within the evolving field of Marketing
The Rutgers Business School (RBS) Communications & Marketing team supports the execution of the school's strategic priorities: 1. Raise RBS preeminence, brand impact and the value of an RBS degree; 2. Implement an integrated communications & marketing strategy to recruit top prospective students for all RBS programs; and 3. Highlight RBS programs and initiatives that enhance RBS social impact that strengthen our communities. The team is built on three pillars that support each other to deliver on these objectives: communications, marketing, and website operations & technology.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Communications, English, PR, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- A minimum of two years of successful proven experience in copy-writing, speech writing, campaign creation, and brand strategy in a high-paced organization or institution
Equipment Utilized
- Must be experienced shooting video on Canon, Sony or Panasonic video cameras and using other critical equipment such as lighting, storyboarding software, and Mac Pro non-linear editing systems with multiple monitor setups
- Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge and degree of familiarity working with Premier, Photo Shop and other software necessary to produce high-quality video content
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Rutgers Business School has buildings on two campuses, one in Newark and the other in Piscataway (New Brunswick). A successful candidate will be expected to shoot video at both locations, requiring some travel and a familiarity with the two distinct campuses.
- The need to film on both campuses may require traveling between locations and transporting heavy equipment (50 pounds or more) from one campus to another
- Ability to work on weekends and evenings when necessary
- A valid driver's license is required
