Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Provides oversight of engineered systems throughout the budgeting, planning, design, and construction phases. Responsibilities include leading technical design reviews, conducting engineering studies, developing high-level scopes of work for selected projects, overseeing commissioning activities, and performing audits to ensure compliance with design and quality standards. Strategically critical to advancing the university's mission and objectives in infrastructure development and sustainability.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides technical expertise for electrical engineering tasks
- Oversees all aspects of service project management from concept development, through implementation to closeout, service projects include Energy Audits, Commissioning (Cx), engineering studies, and/or similar projects
- Provides technical guidance for new project development including utility power distribution, building power distribution, emergency power, lighting, fire alarm systems, and telecommunications infrastructure
- Conducts technical inspections and provide deficiency reports on all new construction and renovation projects
- Reviews drawings and specifications provided by architect and/or engineer consultants
- Conducts troubleshooting of electrical problems and creates technical reports on findings and communicates per established guidelines
- Reviews contractor submissions for compliance with contract documents and KSU design standards
- Maintains a reserve list of capital improvements for campus-owned electrical systems
- Assists in the accurate documentation of MEP systems and updates the MEP design standards as needed
- Interprets electrical system short circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc flash studies and performs minor electrical design as needed
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations
- Provides project management for designated service projects
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Georgia
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Five (5) years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on facilities design and construction management.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Previous experience higher education setting within the University System of Georgia

Familiarity with University System of Georgia Board of Regents (BOR) requirements
Understanding of building MEP systems and operations

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with all levels of university staff and faculty
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant engineering software)
