Electrician - Building Maintenance (Client Facility Coordinator)

About This Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Electrician to join UQ’s Property and Facilities team at Herston Campus in a varied, site-based role with real autonomy, strong team support and the chance to work across complex building systems.

At UQ, this role is known as a Client Facility Coordinator, but at its core this is a hands-on electrical maintenance role where you’ll help keep essential infrastructure, plant and building systems operating safely and efficiently across a busy and complex environment.

You’ll work closely with the Client Facility Manager, other trades and contractors to deliver preventative, corrective and project-based maintenance, while building strong relationships with clients across the precinct.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out hands-on statutory, preventative and corrective maintenance on building systems
  • Troubleshooting faults and responding to a wide range of maintenance issues
  • Supporting the day-to-day operation of electrical, HVAC, fire, building management and security control systems
  • Coordinating contractors and maintenance activities across site
  • Inspecting facilities, identifying issues and recommending practical solutions
  • Assisting with maintenance planning, minor works and improvement initiatives
  • Participating in an on-call roster
  • Maintaining a strong focus on safety, wellbeing and service delivery

About You

You’re a qualified electrician with strong maintenance experience in large or complex facilities. You enjoy variety in your day, take pride in solving problems properly, and can work both independently and as part of a team.

You’ll bring:

  • Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
  • Current open Queensland Driver’s Licence
  • Experience in commercial or complex building maintenance
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
  • Good working knowledge of building services and plant
  • Ability to coordinate contractors and manage competing priorities
  • Sound communication skills and a practical, client-focused approach
  • Basic computer skills across multiple platforms

It would also be great if you have:

  • EWP licence
  • Dual trade, PLC or Dynalite experience

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including; right to work in Australia.
