Position Information:

UCR Health and the University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine is recruiting endocrinologist clinicians. The clinician-educator will support the inpatient and outpatient clinical practice in endocrinology within an academic setting. The incumbent will practice at UCR Health Clinics and/or UCR-affiliated clinical facilities in Riverside and surrounding areas. We are seeking a board-certified endocrinologist to join our team of medical professionals.

As an endocrinologist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating hormone disorders and other problems relating to the endocrine system. The endocrinologist will evaluate patient symptoms and medical histories, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans. You will also help patients to deal with the physical limitations due to diseases stemming from problems with the endocrine system.

To be successful as an endocrinologist, you should be thoroughly trained in understanding, treating, and managing endocrine disorders. You should be analytical, supportive, and have good communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree and be eligible to practice in the State of California by the time of employment. Candidate must be board certified as a specialist in endocrinology, and/or related sub specialty.

A minimum of one year of practice post residency training from an accredited residency training program is required.

Applicants must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and UCR affiliated hospitals.

The full salary range for the Endocrinologist Physician Specialist is from $118,100 - $302,700 annually, with additional compensation eligibility based on clinical productivity. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements
- Must possess an M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree. (Required)

Experience Requirements
- A minimum of one year of practice post residency training from an accredited residency training program. (Required)
- Fellowship training (in endocrinology, metabolism, or another related subspecialty) (Preferred)

License Requirements
- Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board. (Required)
- Maintenance of California Medical License (Required)
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) prescribing number (Required)

Certification Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to beginning employment. (Required)
- Possess a valid certificate issued by the American Medical Specialty Board as a specialist in endocrinology or related field of medicine and are required to use the specialty in the work assigned. (Required)

Minimum Requirements
- Must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and affiliated hospitals.
- Must be eligible to practice in the State of California by the time of employment.
- Ability to work effectively with staff and patients from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, educational levels, sexual orientations and identities.
- Ability to stay abreast of new medical knowledge, and to maintain and increase expertise and skills as relevant to clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Specialty Patient Care - Endocrinologist Physician Specialists provide patient care in the outpatient setting for general endocrinology and diabetes. (80%)
  Patient care activities will include, but are not be limited to: 1. Assessment, evaluation, diagnostic determination, on-going treatment and clinical management, necessary referral for consultation, care planning and modification, medications/therapeutic orders, transfer authorization, risk assessment, and, when appropriate, determination of readiness and planning for discharge. 2. Extensive and on-going communications with community primary care physicians who routinely manage the care of patients. 3. Day-to-day patient contact/rounding/care management that actively encourages and includes professional input from all members of the patient care team. 4. Accurate and timely completion of all clinical and professional records and documentation to assure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory, licensure and accreditation requirements. 5. May instruct residents, interns, and students in a designated specialized medical service.
• Communication: Direct contact and consultation with patient family members, advocates, and others to ensure effective communication of patient status and care plans, and to encourage/support an open visitor-friendly environment within the medical/hospital environment. (20%)
