Position Summary
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and promote safety at all times.
- Train students to perform essential job functions.
- Work with Ohio University faculty to develop, implement and monitor training programs.
- Create training schedules and coordinate with Ohio University faculty and administrators.
- Conduct classroom and on-the-job training and testing of students.
- Build solid cross-functional relationships with other faculty.
- Facilitate problem-solving among students.
- Expert knowledge of machines, materials, and production processes.
- Expert knowledge of quality control and lean six-sigma.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with experience in a manufacturing setting (presently automotive/sheet metal welding experience a plus) using quality control/lean six-sigma and management/planning tools. In lieu of a degree, individuals with at least 10 years of experience in a manufacturing setting these tools will also be considered.
- Self-starter with ability to work in a team environment with limited direction.
- Previous experience training and coaching teammates in manufacturing.
- Proficient in MS Office products.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Special Instructions to applicants
Ohio University Lancaster is seeking to create a pool of part-time Engineering/Manufacturing Technology adjunct instructors to provide training to students and employees of local Fairfield County manufacturing businesses. This pool is being created in order to collect application materials from interested parties. Although no vacancies currently exist, we will review materials and contact applicants as needs for a part-time instructor arise.
Due to the part-time nature of this position, it is not currently eligible for medical benefits, but is eligible for sick leave accrual and election in state retirement or alternate retirement plan.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
The chosen candidate(s) will work at the newly created Fairfield County Workforce Development Center located in Carroll, Ohio with possible assignments at the Ohio University Lancaster campus. The center's focus is on training in the manufacturing and skilled trade areas for conferring of business and industry credentials.
