Engineering Technology Adjunct Instructor
Description of Position
The Engineering Technology program of DVC is looking for adjuncts to teach our Machining classes. Machining Instructor candidates must have experience and teaching skills for content that includes, safety in the machine laboratory, blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation, inspection and quality control, precision measuring tools, geometric layout methods, taps/dies and threading, speed and feed calculations, cutting tool theory, materials and selection of materials, hand tools, pedestal and surface grinding operations, drill press, band saw, manual lathes, and vertical mills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules; creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking; evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work; meeting with students outside of class; maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics; maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas; fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member; maintaining accurate academic records; performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience
Masters in any field of engineering technology or engineering OR Bachelors degree in either of the above AND Masters degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, biological science or chemistry, OR Bachelors degree in industrial technology, engineering technology or engineering AND A professional engineers license OR Masters Degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering, Industrial Design, Industrial Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Technology, with two-years of work experience OR Masters in any field of engineering OR Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology OR Bachelors degree in any subject and two years work experience in a related field Associate Degree in any subject with six years work experience in a related field
Desirable Qualifications
Machining Instructor candidates must have experience and teaching skills for content that includes, safety in the machine laboratory, blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation, inspection and quality control, precision measuring tools, geometric layout methods, taps/dies and threading, speed and feed calculations, cutting tool theory, materials and selection of materials, hand tools, pedestal and surface grinding operations, drill press, band saw, manual lathes, and vertical mills. Experience with CNC machining and CAD/CAM is also highly desirable. Applicants should have excellent skills in communication and experience working with individuals or teams in a collaborative educational environment. Although teaching experience is preferred, applicants with no prior teaching experience but a strong aptitude or interest in teaching are encouraged to apply.
Salary
Initial salary placement for full-time, tenure track positions is based on academic degree(s), upper/graduate level units earned, teaching experience and/or qualifying related professional occupation experience which ranges from $68,136 to $112,848 per year (Up to $132k). Adjunct instructor classroom faculty pay rate is $77.87-$128.97 per hour (up to $151.16). Counseling, Librarian, Disabilities Specialist pay rate is $51.37-$87.77 per hour (up to $100.65)
