Job Summary

Reporting to the assigned department leader, the Enrollment Coach is responsible for recruiting prospective students and providing general advising on future academic and career goals and assists students in identifying and understanding issues and procedures related to successful application and enrollment at Tarrant County College.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*

  • Provides proactive outreach, recruitment, and onboarding assistance to traditional and non-traditional students including admissions, TSI assessment, career assessment, financial aid, and scholarship information and assistance in accordance with the mission, goals, and policies of the College
  • Provides advising to students and groups from connection to entry and introduces career/pathway exploration
  • Unofficially evaluates and interprets high school and college transcripts and test scores
  • Makes referrals for Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA)
  • Provides introductions to the college's academic programs, including Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, and certificates
  • Provides enrollment coaching for different student populations seeking undergraduate enrollment, seeking to utilize tuition assistance benefits, or seeking to update industry certification
  • Communicates internally and externally with students, partners, and stakeholders by e-mail, phone, chat, texting, face-to-face, direct mail, and web
  • Assist new students with First Time in College (FTIC) Advisement
  • Assists with college orientation
  • Leads special projects in support of student success as assigned
  • Builds and maintains relationships with prospective students through case management
  • Nurtures relationships with school personnel, community partners, and business and industry
  • Tracks data for all activities performed and submits monthly reports for funnel tracking
  • Attends college fairs and recruitment events

Service Excellence

  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Supervision

Works under the general supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, career advising, counseling, social work, or related area
  • National Career Development Association (NCDA) Certificate
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with proficiency in both written and verbal communication
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in providing support services to first-year, and non-traditional students
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with new student programs in a college or university setting
  • At least one (1) year's working experience in advising different groups of students
  • At least one (1) year's working experience working with adult learners, workforce training programs, or community-based organizations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of grant compliance requirements
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the community college mission
  • Knowledge of student characteristics, campus/college programs, and services available to special populations
  • Knowledge of career interest inventory testing procedures and outcomes
  • Knowledge of the admissions, financial aid, and payment processes
  • Knowledge of TCC programs, degrees, and certificates
  • Knowledge of TCC program admission requirements and deadlines
  • Skilled in data tracking and reporting
  • Skilled in communication and team building across all areas of the college
  • Skilled using applications and enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use online student records management systems such as Who's Next and Student Planning
  • Ability to interpret and articulate assessment/test results for appropriate placement
  • Ability to work independently, follow established procedures and regulations, and use discretion and judgment
  • Ability to work in a case management process environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations
  • Ability to conduct frequent travel within Tarrant County
  • Ability to work frequently on evenings and weekends in addition to a regular work schedule

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
