College/Department Information

Located in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans and is operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University.

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned patient care, administrative, rehabilitative and visitor areas in a long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

• JANITORIAL DUTIES: Perform a variety of cleaning tasks including dust and wet mop floors, clean and disinfect restrooms, remove spots and spillage, clean chairs, cabinets, and other areas, spot clean walls and doors, terminal clean units, and participate in special projects.
• CHEMICAL/BIOHAZARDOUS DUTIES: Collect and transport biohazardous waste.
• OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, or one year of experience in a similar position.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in environmental cleaning, particularly in a healthcare environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE: Good communication skills and ability to interact positively with the elderly.
SKILLS: Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
ABILITIES: Ability to maintain confidentiality, work in a team, perform to standards, follow instructions, and prioritize work for safety.
