POSITION DETAILS

The State University of New York, Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC), administered by New York City College of Technology/ CUNY, provides tuition-free academic and workforce development training to eligible New York State residents, offering a pathway to lifelong learning, college access and economic self-sufficiency. The BEOC welcomes applications for the position of EOC Associate Director of Operations.

The EOC Associate Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing comprehensive operational functions at BEOC. This position provides leadership, strategic oversight, and direct supervision across all operational and support-service staff, ensuring efficient, compliant, and mission-aligned operations.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to IT and data management personnel, custodial and maintenance staff, communications and resource, administrative support staff, and other operational positions within BEOC.
  • Oversee and manage building operations, custodial services, facility maintenance, and property management to ensure safe, functional, and efficient work and learning environments.
  • Coordinate and supervise IT and data system operations, ensuring effective internal support and timely vendor interactions for technology and system maintenance.
  • Lead inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking, distribution, and maintenance of institutional equipment, technology assets, and operational supplies.
  • Manage and evaluate vendor relationships and contracts to ensure compliance with institutional standards and service agreements.
  • Monitor operational workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes to enhance institutional efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources to oversee onboarding, employee compliance, personnel records management, and related operational processes.
  • Ensure compliance with CUNY policies, health and safety standards, and operational guidelines across all departments.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing operational activities, staffing levels, outcomes, and budgetary implications.
  • Participate in institutional budget planning and analysis, specifically regarding operational expenditures and resource allocation.
  • Represent operational departments in internal strategic planning meetings, committees, and special initiatives.
  • Perform additional operational management duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree preferred in business administration, public administration, accounting or related field.
  • Strong familiarity with building operations and facilities management.
  • Knowledge of IT and data systems development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience in fiscal reporting, budgeting, and contract management.
  • Previous experience with procurement, inventory control, and vendor management in a government or not-for-profit agency.
  • Proficiency with accounting software.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Executive Director or designee, manages the operations and daily workflow of an Educational Opportunity Center (EOC).

  • Manages various aspects of EOC administrative operations such as facilities and technology.
  • Develops and implements operational policies and procedures.
  • Assesses functions to support senior management decision-making; creates solutions to increase efficiency and productivity; and utilizes metrics to monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Manages vendor relationships; ensures contract compliance.
  • Assists with budget management.
  • Collects, analyzes and reports on operations and outcomes.
  • May participate in funding, marketing and/or outreach activities.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$98,995 - $113,982. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
