Summary
The University is seeking an experienced ETL Developer / Data Integration Analyst to support the migration of enterprise data from Workday into the institutions Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), built on Oracle with SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS), and to maintain the on-premise EDW and eventual migration to Cloud.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and reliable integration of data from Workdays Student Information System, Finance and HCM modules. The successful candidate will help design and implement ETL workflows to populate the existing EDW and prepare the data architecture for a future transition to a modern cloud based data warehouse platform. This role will support the on-going efforts of the enterprise reporting , data analytics, and data driven decision making at all levels of the university.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on data integration professional with a strong understanding of higher education systems and best practices in ETL and data governance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from Workday into the current SAP BODS-based EDW.
- Collaborate on the design of data integration strategies that will ease the future migration to a new EDW environment (e.g., cloud-based or modernized data platform).
- Analyze Workday data structures, reports, and APIs (RaaS, WWS) to establish robust data mapping and transformation logic.
- Integrate legacy Banner SIS data with Workday data to ensure historical continuity and unified reporting across systems.
- Work with business analysts, the BI team, and Institutional Research to understand requirements.
- Implement and monitor data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance routines to maintain high data integrity.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, metadata, and ETL job specifications.
- Support data governance and compliance efforts (including FERPA and data access policies).
- Participate in planning and architecture discussions for the next-generation EDW platform to ensure smooth transition of data pipelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of higher education reporting standards (IPEDS, CDS, state-level reporting).
- 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining ETL processes using SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS) or equivalent enterprise ETL tools.
- Hands-on experience integrating Workday data into an Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and ETL performance optimization.
- Demonstrated strong SQL development skills and experience working with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities with attention to data accuracy and consistency.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday Student data model (Academic Records, Student Financials, Admissions, Curriculum).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, or Google BigQuery).
- Experience with Python or PowerShell scripting for automation and ETL orchestration.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and FERPA compliance.
- Previous experience supporting data warehouse modernization or cloud migration initiatives.

Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The anticipated hiring range is $74,944.00-$87,497.00
This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
